For schools, boards, public agencies, parks & recreation departments, and mission-driven teams — led by a facilitator who has worked inside those organizations, not just in front of them.
Adventure is not an add-on. It is a change of context. When a group leaves its normal room, hierarchy and routine become easier to observe — and the facilitator has something real to debrief.
Pair or group paddling, route decisions, changing conditions, pacing, trust, communication, and a shared destination.
Direction, decision-making with incomplete information, leadership handoffs, and shared responsibility across terrain.
Team challenges themed through terrain, water, weather, observation, problem solving, and reflection.
A flexible container for boards and leadership teams that combines facilitated organizational work with a meaningful, place-based experience — designed around your people and your moment.
A grounded, practical keynote drawing on years of work inside schools, parks departments, and community organizations. Built around your event's theme — not a generic motivational talk. Leaves audiences with a framework they can actually use.
No two Arcturus programs are the same. Scott designs every experience around your team's real situation — your dynamics, your goals, your terrain. Expect something original.
Meetings become transactional. Roles blur. Communication patterns harden. New members inherit a culture without ever examining it. Arcturus creates space for the people behind the roles to reconnect, challenge assumptions, and practice working together differently — then return with stronger relationships, clearer direction, and practical momentum.
Every engagement is designed around a specific team need — not a generic agenda.
A focused entry point for a board, administrative team, school staff, or department. Pre-session intake, facilitated team challenges, targeted discussion, reflection, and a short action closeout. Indoors or outdoors.
The flagship one-day experience. Blends organizational development, movement, challenge, facilitated conversation, and reflection — built around what your team actually needs to work through.
A deeper engagement that follows Discover → Adventure → Integrate. The first session finds what matters, the field experience shifts the context, and the final session turns insight into working agreements.
Astronomy · Facilitated reflection · Twilight to night
A team that looks up at the same sky sees the same scale, the same distances, the same timelessness. From that vantage point, the pressures inside any organization look different. This experience uses observation, navigation, and the night sky as prompts for team reflection — one of the few leadership experiences that can only happen after dark.
An organization enters the experience as one beam. Facilitation makes the components inside that beam visible — so the team can see where it is aligned, where it is fragmented, and what needs attention.
Mission, shared direction, priorities, and why the team exists. Where are you going, and does everyone know it?
Trust, communication, connection, conflict, and the people behind the roles. How is this team actually doing?
Perspective, contribution, leadership style, talents, and differences. What does each person bring that the team can't afford to waste?
Roles, meetings, decisions, handoffs, accountability, and organizational habits. What is making the work harder than it needs to be?
Commitments, next actions, ownership, and what changes after the experience. Good fieldwork does not end in the field.
Most team development programs hand out a summary and move on. Arcturus Fieldwork leaves every participant with a structured toolkit — worksheets built for the moment they were in, and a reflection portal that meets them when they are ready to process what happened.
Five purpose-built tools — one for each PRISM dimension. The Mission Waypoints worksheet surfaces shared direction before anyone leaves. The Constellation Map makes relationship dynamics visible and nameable. The Superpower Finder reveals individual contribution in a way that sticks. Each one is designed for use in the field, by hand, in the moment it matters.
After the engagement, participants receive access to their personal reflection space. It holds the PRISM framework, Fieldwork Reflection questions for each dimension, and their downloadable worksheets from the day — all in one place, waiting when they are ready to go deeper. This is not a survey. It is a structured return to the experience, at the right pace for each person.
The photos from your day in the field arrive in the participant hub alongside the reflection content. Not buried in a group chat or lost in someone's camera roll. Anchored to the moment, organized by expedition, and placed right where the reflection happens. Seeing your team on the water, on the trail, or under the same sky brings the experience back — and that is exactly when the reflection lands.
The facilitator-side of this system tracks intake, generates PRISM profiles, and produces five structured deliverables: a Team Profile, a Relationship Map, an Individual Strengths summary, a Systems Improvement Plan, and a 90-Day Momentum Map. These are real documents your organization can act on — not feel-good write-ups that sit in a drawer.
Scott Amick holds a Master of Arts in Outdoor Education (Biomechanical Analysis) from California State University, Chico. He combines expertise in human movement, functional anatomy, and trauma-informed practice with a lifetime in outdoor education and recreation. As a founder and personal training specialist, Scott worked with individual clients and teams to build awareness, strength, and resilience through movement and challenge.
For the past several years, Scott has served as a Recreation Supervisor with the Paradise Recreation & Parks Department, where he designed and facilitated community healing and team development initiatives in the aftermath of the 2018 Camp Fire. In that role, he also coordinates outdoor education across the full Paradise Recreation and Park District network — putting him in direct relationship with outdoor education providers, field instructors, and program operators throughout the region. That dual view — inside a public agency and across the outdoor education landscape — is something no outside consultant can replicate. It instilled a deep understanding of how organizations move through difficulty, rebuild trust, and reconnect to shared purpose.
Arcturus Fieldwork channels that combination: skilled facilitation rooted in real experience, outdoor methodology that creates authentic challenge, and a genuine commitment to leaving teams stronger than they arrived.
Arcturus Fieldwork blends outdoor education, recreation, and skilled facilitation. Not corporate icebreakers. Not a consultant who parachutes in from the outside — Scott has spent years working inside the very kinds of organizations he serves: schools, parks departments, and community agencies. He understands the culture, the constraints, and what's actually at stake before he walks in the door. Not adventure for its own sake — nature and challenge are used intentionally to create perspective, for organizations where trust, clarity, stewardship, and community actually matter.
Real outcomes, in participants' own words.
"What sets Scott apart is his ability to meet people where they are while encouraging them to discover what they're capable of. His approach to team building is inclusive, thoughtful, and genuinely engaging. He understands that every participant brings different strengths to the experience, and he creates an environment where those differences become an asset to the entire team."
"I've seen firsthand how Scott can take a group of people out of their everyday routines and create something really meaningful. There's laughter, challenge, vulnerability, and a lot of discovery along the way. What makes his approach so effective is that the activities never feel like activities just for the sake of having fun. There's always a purpose, and the connections people make are real."
"Scott understands that some of the most powerful learning happens outside the classroom. His ability to combine outdoor adventure, intentional facilitation, and meaningful reflection makes his programs particularly valuable for educators and the organizations that support young people. He creates experiences that challenge assumptions, build trust, and remind us that learning and growth are deeply connected to relationships."
Every Arcturus program is designed around your team's needs — not pulled off a shelf. Choose a format, pick your program options, and we'll build it from there.
Not a generic contact form. A few questions so the first conversation is already about you.
